Does my jewelry brought in for repair leave Shockey Jewelers?
Shockey Jewelers has a full repair shop on premises. In general, your repair, stone setting, and custom jewelry will be done in store by our master craftsmen using the latest laser technology. Occasionally, certain jobs and watch repairs must be done off premises, but you will always be informed.
Is there a Gemologist on the premises?
Yes, Peter Shockey is a Graduate Gemologist. In addition, all of our staff is well trained and knowledgeable, and will be able to assist you.
May I bring in jewelry purchased somewhere else for an appraisal?
Jewelry Appraisal is a complex evaluation which must be accomplished by a professional, trained in the appraisal sciences. Our appraiser Heidi Harders and Peter Shockey are both Graduate Gemologists, certified by the Gemological Institute of America. Each appraisal comes with a detailed description of weight, measurements, characteristics, a photograph, and appropriate documentation for your insurance company or attorney. A less detailed "verbal" evaluation is also available.
May I wait while my repair or appraisal is being done?
Although we have a full-service shop on our premises, we ask that you leave your repair or appraisal for us to finish as soon as possible, usually within one week. We will always call when your items are ready for pick-up.
