Tanzanite is a relatively new gem, discovered in 1967. Tanzanite is named after the East African state of Tanzania. Tanzanite color ranges from light violet with blue tint to deep violet with blue tint. Tanzanites are a relatively soft gem that should be worn with caution. Tanzanites are only mined in Tanzania.
